Interactive storytelling at HMKW
Interactive Storytelling is part of the Converging Trends and Technology course at the Berlin Higher School for Media, Communication and Business (HMKW).
Journalism, design, business and communication students learn the basics of HTML, CSS (with the Bulma framework) and JS (with jQuery) in 12 hours and have to produce an interactive piece in the remaining 12 hours of the class.
The educational goal is for students to realize what it means to create a web project from the brainstorm phase to deployment. Besides learning a few useful keywords and concepts (Github, issues, variables...), my hope it that this will make them more empathic when communicating with developers during their careers.
The course is taught by Nicolas Kayser-Bril.
